Some people are very snobby about Julian Fellowes, but I think he's a genius. They put Belgravia on TV and it was great. And I completely adore The Gilded Age, and not only for the costumes! Meanwhile my reading the last 2 weeks has been very disappointing. I treated myself to two 'new' bestsellers, In Memoriam and The Cloisters, and thought they were both massively overrated. Its back to Whipple and Priestley for me!

I love everything Julian Fellowes creates. I enjoyed the Belgravia TV adaptation. It was excellent. But did you see there is a second season available now? I don't believe Julian Fellowes was much involved with it. I tried watching it and it was not very good. I was not able to finish the second episode, so there is that. The Cloisters was a massive disappointment. I'm still in shock about that terrible, confusing, weird ending, to be honest with you.

Agreed. It wasn't like the great reveal, because the thing with her Dad was unbelievable

Lovely to see what you’ve been reading. I’m half way through Oliver Twist at the moment and hoping to dig deeper into Wilkie Collins this year. Perhaps I should get The Victorian Detective as a companion read!

It's not required to understand Victorian detective novels (especially since many Victorian novels come with excellent introductions) but it is fun to read!
