I forgot to add that I also read a 1972 short story by Margery Allingham titled, "The Unseen Door." It's a super short read and was my first introduction to Albert Campion.

I'm glad to hear you're on a treatment plan and hope it's going well! Please don't worry about being a downer - you're under no obligation to keep cheery through all this for our entertainment (though if it helps you, then I'm glad). 🖤

I've never actually read any Agatha Christie, though I've watched the recent Poirot film adaptations and enjoyed those, so perhaps I should. When it comes to mystery novels I'm more of a Sherlock girl. Which reminds me, I wrote about the Hound of the Baskervilles for an essay during my MA and I'd quite like to adapt it into a Ligaments post at some point!

Thank you, Holly, for your kind words. Regarding, Agatha Christie, if I'm being very honest, I think it's perfectly acceptable to watch the Agatha Christie films and not stress over ever reading the books. It doesn't need to be both. But I am also a Sherlock girl myself. And your note reminded me that I have a beautiful copy of Hound of the Baskervilles to crack open. Your adapted essay will be super fun to read on Ligaments. You might like Agatha's Seance short story if you can access it via your Library's app. That's how I read it. Have a great weekend!

I shall check out Seance!

And I'll get on that Ligaments post. It'll be fun to delve into that research again. 🖤

Well, this was fun. Margery Allingham can be somewhat baroque but hope you haven't been put off - The Tiger in the Smoke is superb. And you're right about the short stories, there're some v. good ones and a lot of enjoyable ones.

I'm for sure not writing Allingham off. She is a queen of crime for a reason. Plus I'm enjoying her short stories too much.

It's good to see you back!! ❤️ (Although I realize I'm late.) I've never read an Ariadne Oliver Agatha Christie, but this one sounds fun...or any Margery Allingham, for that matter. I did work my way through the Miss Marple short stories last summer, and they were delightful.

You are never ever late here. My first introduction to Ariadne Oliver was via the recent Poirot film adaptation where Tina Fay portrayed her. The entire time reading the book I was picturing Tina Fey's face and voice, which was delightful.

I haven't seen it! Was that the one set in Venice?

Yes, it was a little bit crazy but entertaining. It was set inside an old Venetian palace on the water. And as usual, I didn't guess the killer. Too many clues to lead me astray.
